Julienne's First Trip by Plane

As you know I planned a trip to Texas last week. I was very busy and unable to write so I will try to fill you in on some of the activities.

Before we left my hosts had a big dinner for me and invited some new friends they thought I might identify with since we seemed to have so much in common. Turned out they weren't very talkative and disappeared before dinner. Here's a picture.

Next morning we drove up to Logan Airport for our journey to the Lone Star state. I was so excited to see the plane I was going to ride, waiting for me to board. Here's another shot.

Then there was an ugly incident! Because I was a bit too short for the full body scan machine the TSA guys took me aside and in front of all those people patted me down. Well, they obviously were not familiar with potato anatomy and the result is apparent in this TSA shot. Even after reading my travel instructions they were a bit confused and I was totally humiliated.

Everything was eventually cleared up and I was able to board the plane for my first flight ever. I love the window seat. Here's a shot of me all strapped in.

Texas was nice but I spent a lot of time alone because my hosts couldn't take me to many of their engagements. The return flight was nice but I still didn't see any other traveling potatoes

I'm looking forward to moving on to another family or friend's house

I'll write when I get there.

Julienne.

Hello Blogmaster D,
Well I've started my big adventure and arrived on New Year's Day at a very nice place in Pinehills. My new hosts were not at home when I arrived but seemed genuinely pleased to see me waiting in my sled (picture attached) when they returned. After all those years with D&K I did have significant separation axiety.

It didn't take long to get accustomed to my new digs and meet some new friends that are permanent residents (also attached).

We stayed up and talked until late. I'm hoping to learn to play ping pong tomorrow - they have a table.
I enjoyed a ride in the scenic countryside and have attached one last picture for today's entry in my journal.

I'm so excited because I've been invited to take an airplane ride with my hosts next week. I don't want to impose but it's a great opportunity to see more of the USA. I'll think it over and get back to you with my decision.

Until then
Julienne.

The Journey Begins

It is the start of a new year, January 1, 2012, and I am off on my new journey!  I have lived with a loving family for the last 5 or 6 years and I feel sad leaving.  But adventure awaits, this journey is something I have had my eye on for quite a while.  I know my family, Kris and Don, will miss me too.
Goodbye Family!

Since I my journey starts in Plymouth, MA, USA, it seems appropriate that my first photos of my pilgrimage should be of the Mayflower and Plymouth Rock.

Here I am visiting the Mayflower in Plymouth Harbor

Read about the Mayflower on Wikipedia.
Plymouth Rock is a few short steps away from the Mayflower

Read about Plymouth Rock on Wikipedia.

Now I must go on to my next destination, still in Plymouth, MA.  This first destination is close, so I will just walk there.
